5 Series E39 528i (M52) SAL
Unfasten pressure pipe from vane
pump.
Remove heat protection shield (not
shown in illustration).
Unfasten the return pipe and pressure
pipe from the steering box and remove.
Note:
Remove the bracket for pressure pipe
and return pipe from the front axle
carrier. The pipes are no longer
secured at the front axle carrier.
Fit the new return pipe and the new
pressure pipe at the steering box but do
not tighten.
Secure the return pipe to the pressure
pipe using a clamp and M6 hexagon
nut. Route and fit the pressure pipe to
the vane pump and the return pipe to
the hydraulic cooler.
Note:
The routing is now in front of the
steering box viewed in the direction of
travel.
