5 Series E39 528i (M52) SAL
Remove rear spring strut shock absorber,
Refer to 33 52 100.
Clamp special tool 31 3 341 at guide (1) in vice.
Important!
Locking pins (2) must be felt and heard snapping into place.
Check seating of spring retainers 31 3 353 again.
Warning!
Prior to each use, check special tools for functional capability.
Do not use special tools which are damaged.
Do not make any modifications whatsoever to special tools.
Use only suitable spring retainers.
The special tools are solely intended for tensioning and
relieving the tension on springs.
Never tighten or untighten special tool 31 3 341 with an
impact screwdriver.
Spring retainers must each be inserted from chamfer (1) of special
tool 31 3 341.
Locking pins must be felt and heard snapping into place.
Locate coil spring with upper and lower coil between the spring
holders.
