5 Series E39 530d (M57) SAL
Raise engine bonnet/hood.
Insert two M8 screws (1) in engine hood hinges (2) for securing.
Remove cap (1).
Unfasten nut (2).
Installation:
Tightening torque,
refer to Technical Data 12 42 1AZ.
Unhook battery positive lead (3) on cable holder (4) and secure to
engine.
Insert special tool 11 7 050 (1) between oil sump (2) and front
axle support (3).
Remove catalytic converter,
refer to 18 31 040.
Remove transmission (manual),
refer to 23 00 024.
Remove transmission (automatic),
refer to 24 00 028.
