5 Series E39 M5 (S62) SAL
Turn dials on both dial gauges so that large needles point to zero.
Note:
Note position of small needles (roughly at 5).
Failure to comply may result in an error of a full needle
revolution.
Raise throttle levers (1) between throttle bodies 1 and 2 slightly
and then release several times to check whether large needles
always point to zero.
If necessary, correct dials.
Screw in adjusting screw (1) between throttle bodies 1 and 2 until
fork-shaped shim is free.
Remove shim.
Note:
Fork-shaped shim at adjusting screw between throttle bodies
2 and 3 remains inserted.
Unscrew adjusting screw between throttle bodies 1 and 2 again
until both large dial gauge needles point to zero and small needles
are in previous position (roughly at 5).
Raise throttle levers (1) between throttle bodies 1 and 2 slightly
and then release several times to check whether large needles
always point to zero.
Caution!
Do not press throttle levers shut.
If necessary, make correction by turning adjusting screw.
Caution!
Permissible tolerance is
±
0.01 mm per dial gauge (space
between two strokes on large dial).
Check position of small needles.
