Release all screws on oil sump (1).
Remove oil sump (1).
Note:
If the oil sump (1) is replaced, the oil level sensor (2) must
be converted with a new gasket to the new oil sump.
Remove gasket (1) from engine.
Free sealing faces (2) of gasket debris and clean.
Installation:
In area of joints (1), apply a bead of Drei Bond 1209 sealing
compound (refer to BMW Parts Service) approx. 3 mm wide
and 2 mm high.
Installation:
To prevent warping during subsequent transmission
installation, align oil sump (3) flush with crankcase (2) using
a straightedge (1).
Tighten down all screws diagonally and evenly.
