Diesel MFI Pump: Service and Repair
Inspection Cover Plate Gasket, Replace
1.
Remove air cleaner and install cover J-26996-1.
2.
Place several shop rags in engine valley to catch spilled fuel.
3.
Scribe a line on the vacuum regulator valve and pump body so valve can be reinstalled without readjusting.
4.
Remove vacuum regulator valve from pump, then clean dirt from inspection plate area.
5.
Remove inspection plate retaining screws, then inspection plate and gasket.
6.
Reverse procedure to install. Using new gasket, torque inspection plate retaining screws to 20 inch lbs.
