Cruise Control Servo Cable: Adjustments
Units With Bead Chain
1.
Make sure that engine hot idle speed is properly adjusted, then shut off engine and set carburetor choke to hot idle position.
2.
Check slack in chain by disconnecting swivel from ball stud and holding chain taut at ball stud. Center of swivel should extend 1/8 inch beyond
center of ball stud.
3.
To adjust bead chain slack, remove retainer from swivel and chain assembly, then place chain into swivel cavities which permits chain to have
slight slack.
4.
Install retainer over swivel and chain assembly.
Units With Servo Rod
1.
Make sure that engine hot idle speed is properly adjusted, then shut off engine and set carburetor choke to hot idle position.
2.
Remove servo rod retainer, then adjust rod and install retainer in hole which provides some clearance between retainer and servo bushing.
Clearance must not exceed width of one hole.
Units With Cable
1.
Make sure that engine hot idle speed is properly adjusted, then shut off engine and set carburetor choke to hot idle position.
2.
Remove cable pin retainer, then pull power unit end of cable toward power unit as far as it will go. If one of four holes in power unit tab aligns
with cable pin, connect pin to tab with retainer.
3.
If tab does not align with pin, move cable away from power unit until next closest tab hole aligns and connect pin to tab with retainer. Do not
force cable to make adjustment, as this will prevent engine from returning to idle.
