Using the ball portion of the hammer, reform the upper mounting surface rearward approximately 3-4 mm in the area shown in Figure 6.

Touch up paint on mounting surface as required.

Install pull-down unit using 7 mm of shims on bottom-most stud and 2 mm of shims on center stud. The bottom-most stud should already
have 4 mm of shims installed. Verify that total thickness of shims does not exceed 7 mm on bottom stud.

Operate pull-down unit to its full up position and check for interference between the black metal shaft housing of the pull-down unit and
the boot well opening weatherstrip. If interference is noted, remove a small (8 mm x 12 mm) section of the bottom flange of the boot
well opening weatherstrip directly above the metal shaft housing to allow clearance.

Close boot well cover and lower rear bow until soft top rear hook is directly above the pull-down unit jaws. Using a 2.5 mm Allen-head
wrench, adjust soft top rear hook set screw outward until hook is centered in the pull-down unit jaws. A longer set screw, P/N 3530810, may
be substituted if insufficient adjustment is available. Refer to Figure 7.
NOTICE: Be careful not to adjust the hook too far rearward so that when the rear bow is closed, the hook interferes with the rear of the pull-down
jaw opening bezel in the boot well cover. Damage to the boot well cover or bezel may result.
9.
Cycle top several times to verify proper operation and all clearances.
If the soft top material is torn, replace material using the procedure in Section 10-9 of the 1990 Allante Service Information Manual. A list of
frequently needed parts for a material replacement is being provided for reference.
