Brake Bleeding: Service and Repair
Bleeding Pump and Booster
BLEEDING PUMP AND BOOSTER
1. Be sure that hydraulic accumulator is depressurized. If accumulator is suspected to contain pressurized fluid, depressurize by pumping the brake
pedal a minimum of 25 times.
2. Connect all pump/motor assembly and hydraulic unit electrical connections, if previously disconnected. Be sure that all pipe and hose connections
are tight. Fill the hydraulic unit reservoir to the FULL mark.
Bleeding Pump Motor System
3. Connect a transparent hose to the pump bleed screw as shown in the illustration. Place the free end of the hose in a clear glass container to catch
the discharged brake fluid.
4. Loosen pump bleed screw 1/2 to 3/4 turn.
5. Turn ignition on. The pump should run, discharging brake fluid into the glass container. Allow the pump to run until clear, bubble-free brake fluid
flows from the bleeder hose and then turn ignition off.
6. Tighten pump bleed screw.
