Coolant Reservoir: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
The pressurized coolant recovery reservoir ensures that the radiator hoses and the radiator coolant passages are kept full at all normal operating
temperatures. Coolant is added to the system only at the reservoir, and only when the system is cool.
CONNECTION
The clear plastic reservoir is connected to the cooling system at the following three points:

The tee connection on the coolant intake pipe

The throttle body heater outlet

The radiator air bleed
OPERATION
The pressurized coolant circulates through the reservoir from the throttle body heater outlet to the coolant intake pipe inlet tee connection. The
radiator air bleed connection allows air to purge from the radiator. The reservoir is at the highest point of the cooling system. This allows any air
or vapor that exceeds the cap rating to exit the system. When the coolant is cold, the level should be at the KALT/COLD mark (the seam in the
reservoir). An integral low coolant level switch is bonded on the bottom of the reservoir and cannot be removed.
