Heater Core: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the heater hose quick disconnects from the heater core pipes:

Pull back on the sleeve in order to unlock.

Carefully pull back the tabs in order to remove the disconnects.

4. Remove the steering column.
5. Remove the I/P carrier (physical removal of the I/P carrier from the vehicle is not necessary, however, it is necessary to pull the unfastened I/P

carrier back from the HVAC module to enable heater core removal from the module).

6. Remove the blower motor housing screws.
7. Remove the blower motor housing with the motor.

8. Remove the heater core pipe bracket screw.
9. Remove the heater core pipe bracket.
