Thermostat Housing Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the coolant outlet pipe. See: Coolant Line/Hose/Service and Repair
2. Remove the intake manifold. 

3. Remove the thermostat housing bolts (1).
4. Remove the thermostat housing (2) with thermostat from the engine.
5. Remove and discard the seal ring.
6. Remove the thermostat from the thermostat housing. See: Thermostat/Service and Repair 

Installation Procedure

1. Install the thermostat into the thermostat housing. 
2. Install a new seal ring.

3. Position the thermostat housing (2) with thermostat, to the engine.

Notice:

Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Notice

4. Install the thermostat housing bolts (1). 

Tighten the thermostat housing bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

5. Install the intake manifold. 
6. Install the coolant outlet pipe.
