Launch Shudder Felt on Hard Acceleration (Replace Transmission Output Shaft Flange)

Models:
2003 Cadillac CTS Built Prior to VIN Breakpoint 30108959

with Transmission AUTO 5 SPD, HMD, 5L40-E, Electronic (RPO M82)

This bulletin is being revised to notify dealers that this bulletin ONLY applies to Automatic Transmissions. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number
02-07-30-026.

Condition

Some customers may comment on a shudder felt in the vehicle on acceleration.

Cause

This condition may be caused by insufficient clearance between the transmission output shaft flange and the Propshaft attaching bolts.

Correction

Important:

This bulletin ONLY applies to automatic transmission equipped vehicles with RPO M82.

Replace transmission output shaft flange "A" with the newly designed transmission output shaft flange "B."

Important:

With the vehicle properly supported on the hoist, shift the vehicle transmission out of the Park position into the Neutral position.

Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in the General Information subsection of the Service Manual.
