Navigation - New Map Data Discs Do Not Operate
TECHNICAL
Bulletin No.: 08-08-44-018
Date: May 19, 2008
Subject:
New Map Data Information Discs Do Not Operate With Older Navigation Systems (Update Navigation Radio Software)
Models:
2004-2005 Cadillac CTS
with Navigation Radio (RPO UAV)
Condition
Some customers may comment that a new map data information disc does not operate in their navigation radio. Others may comment that they were not
able to set a destination using the "Address" softkey because they were not able to select a location outside of Michigan. Technicians may find that this
condition is only present on vehicles produced before January 11, 2005.
Cause
This condition may be caused by all updated navigation mapping information that is formatted to run with operating systems capable of XM Live
Real-time Traffic broadcasts, which was phased into production on all CTS vehicles with RPO UAV in January 2005.
Navigation systems on vehicles built prior to this will require a software update disc in addition to the new mapping information disc.
Correction
Technicians are to update the navigation radio software using a software update disc, P/N 15269176. The software update disc is to be obtained from the
GM Navigation Disc Center, using the contact information below.
Parts Information
Navigation software update discs are for the dealer to update the navigation radio software only. They DO NOT update or replace the navigation map
disc that is supplied with the vehicle. Please order these parts only as needed. There is a limited supply of these discs available. Do not order these discs
for stock. Navigation software discs may be used to reprogram more than one vehicle. The first update disc for each P/N is free. Subsequent copies of the
same P/N for the same dealer will cost $50 (USD). Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 06-08-44-012B for additional information.
