Front Steering Knuckle: Service and Repair
Rear Suspension
Knuckle Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (See: Wheels and Tires/Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (See: Wheels and Tires/Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the rear park brake cable from brake rotor. Refer to Park Brake Cable Mounting Bracket Replacement (See: Brakes and Traction
Control/Parking Brake System/Parking Brake Cable/Service and Repair/Park Brake Cable Mounting Bracket Replacement) .
4. Remove the park brake backing plate. Refer to Park Brake Backing Plate Replacement (See: Brakes and Traction Control/Parking Brake
System/Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the adjustable link. Refer to Adjust Link Replacement (See: Steering/Tie Rod/Service and Repair/Rear Suspension) .
Important: Position the jack stand under the lower control top support the rear spring.
6. Position a suitable jack stand under the lower control arm.
7. Remove the upper ball joint from the knuckle. Refer to Upper Control Arm Replacement (See: Control Arm/Service and Repair/Rear
Suspension/Upper Control Arm Replacement) .
8. Remove the lower shock absorber bolt from the knuckle. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement (See: Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber/Service
and Repair/Rear Suspension Shock Absorber) .
9. Remove the bolt from the lower trailing arm to the knuckle. Refer to Trailing Arm Replacement (See: Trailing Arm/Service and Repair) .
10. Remove the bolt from the lower control arm to the knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement (See: Control Arm/Service and
Repair/Rear Suspension/Lower Control Arm Replacement) .
11. Remove the knuckle from the vehicle.
