INFORMATION ON FENDER REPLACEMENT ON 1989-1991 DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS
The 1991 DeVille and Fleetwood fender and hood hinges were modified at VIN M421807 to facilitate assembly of these parts and the front end metal in
production. The current stock of service fenders at GMSPO reflects this change. Since there are no holes in the inner fender vertical wall, the old style
hood hinge cannot be used during fender replacement on cars built from 1989 up to the 1991 VIN breakpoint. The new style hood hinge and a
reinforcement bracket must be installed. For fender replacement use the following procedure:
1.
Install modified hood hinge to side rail assembly.
2.
Attach reinforcement mounting bracket to side rail with its tab against the hinge.
3.
Install fender using procedure from Service Information Manual.

NOTE: The fender "L" bracket has a wing section that attaches onto the reinforcement mounting bracket. For more detail refer to Figure 1.
