Ignition Rotor: Description and Operation
The distributor cap and rotor are used to deliver high intensity spark to the individual cylinders at the correct time.
No periodic lubrication is required. Engine oil lubricates the lower bushing and an oil-filled reservoir provides lubrication for the upper bushing.
The tachometer (TACH) terminal is next to the ignition switch (BAT) connector on the distributor cap.
NOTE: The tachometer terminal must never be allowed to touch ground, as damage to the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and/ or ignition coil can
result.
Dwell adjustment is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and cannot be adjusted.
