Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Brake Caliper Bracket Overhaul

Overhaul Procedure

1. Remove the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Front Without J55) or Brake Caliper Replacement - Front (J55) or Brake Caliper

Replacement - Rear (Without J55) or Brake Caliper Replacement - Rear (J55).

2. Remove the caliper mounting bracket. Refer to Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Front (Without J55) or Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement -

Front (J55) or Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Rear (Without J55) or Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Rear (J55).

3. Remove the caliper pin bolt boots (4) from caliper mounting bracket.

4. Remove the bushings from the mounting bracket.

4.1.

Use a screwdriver or punch to bend the bushings inward.

4.2.

Extract the bushings with needle nose pliers.

5. Clean all parts in clean, denatured alcohol.
6. Dry with unlubricated compressed air.
7. Inspect the caliper mounting bracket for cracks. If cracked, replace bracket.
8. Inspect for worn or damaged threads.
9. Lubricate and install new bushings into bracket mounting bores.

10. Lubricate and install new pin bolt boots.
11. Install the caliper mounting bracket. Refer to Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Front (Without J55) or Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement -

Front (J55) or Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Rear (Without J55) or Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Rear (J55).

12. Install the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Front (Without J55) or Brake Caliper Replacement - Front (J55) or Brake Caliper

Replacement - Rear (Without J55) or Brake Caliper Replacement - Rear (J55).
