Parking Lock Cable: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure
1. Place the transmission range control in PARK (P).
2. Remove the left close-out insulator panel. Refer to Close-out/Insulator Panel Replacement-Left in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning
Indicators.
3. Loosen the left front carpet to allow access to the park lock cable routing
4. Remove the steering column reinforcement plate. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
Important: Do not attempt to perform this step with the ignition key in any other position except RUN.
5. Remove the four steering column bolts and lower the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
6. Turn the ignition key to RUN position.
7. Slip a flat head screwdriver blade into the slot provided in the ignition switch inhibitor. Depress the Cable latch (14) and pull the park lock cable
from the inhibitor.
8. Remove the radio and console trim plates. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement-IP Accessory/ Right in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning
Indicators.
9. Remove the park lock cable at the transmission range control assembly (4).
10. Remove the park lock cable from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Using a flat head screwdriver, pry the lock button of the park lock cable into the UNLOCKED position.
