1.
Block drive wheels, apply parking brake and place transmission in Park.
2.
Start engine, allow it to reach normal operating temperature, then shut engine off.
3.
Remove air cleaner.
4.
Remove air crossover, then install cover J-29657, or equivalent.
5.
Disconnect metering valve sensor harness and attach test harness J-34678 or BT-8342 as shown, Fig. 10.
6.
Install tachometer J-26925, or equivalent, then torque metering valve sensor to pump attaching bolts to 30 inch lbs.
7.
Start engine, accelerate to 1500 RPM for 10-20 seconds to stabilize fuel flow, then return engine to idle.
8.
Place transmission in Drive and set idle speed to 650 RPM.
9.
Using voltmeter J-29124, or equivalent, set meter at 20V scale and measure voltage between terminals A and C of test harness, Fig. 10. Observe
and record voltage (V-REF) reading.
10.
Measure voltage between terminals B and C of test harness. Observe and record MVS voltage reading.

Shift transmission into Park, then compare voltages recorded in steps 9 and 10 with specifications in chart, Fig. 11. Voltages should be within
ranges shown.
12.
With gear selector in Park, measure voltage between terminals B and C as throttle is quickly opened to wide open throttle position. Voltage should
range from less than 1 volt at idle to over 4 volts as throttle approaches wide open position.
13.
If MVS voltage is as specified in steps 11 and 12, the sensor is operating properly. If voltage is not as specified, proceed to ``Adjustment''
procedure.
14.
Connect sensor harness, start engine and adjust idle speed to specifications.
15.
Install air crossover, then the air cleaner.
