Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair

FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS AND/OR HUB

1.

Remove caliper retaining bolts, then slide caliper off disc and using a length of wire, attach caliper to upper control arm. Never allow caliper to
hang from brake hose.

2.

Remove dust cap, cotter pin, spindle nut, washer and outer bearing assembly.

3.

Remove hub and disc assembly, being careful to avoid damage to spindle threads or grease seal.

4.

Remove inner bearing grease seal and bearing assembly. Inner and outer bearing cups are press fit in hub and can be driven out from the
opposite side using a brass drift. Tap alternately on opposite sides to prevent cocking cup and damaging hub.
