Vacuum Pump: Description and Operation

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The vacuum pump is designed to aid the engine in maintaining a proper vacuum level for the vacuum operated controls and accessories. This is
accomplished by using an electric vacuum pump.

ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP
The vacuum pump is mounted under the battery tray on the left hand side of the car. The vacuum pump is a continuous run pump and is only serviced
as an assembly.
A charcoal filter is located in the outlet hose line to protect the internal vacuum pump components from vapors.
The vacuum pump is equipped with locking type connectors for attaching vehicle wiring and care should be used when disconnecting wiring from the
vacuum pump. The pump is activated when the ignition switch is in the on or run position.
