Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair

NOTE:  Use of shop air pressure may be used to hold one piston within its compression stroke without turning the crankshaft. Remove a spark plug and

install adapter J-22794, or equivalent, finger tight in spark plug port. Apply air pressure to hold piston within its compression stroke. Adapter
should not be wrench tightened.

REMOVAL

1.

Remove negative battery cable.

2.

Remove serpentine belt.

3.

Raise car on hoist.

4.

Remove right front tire.

5.

Remove right front air deflector.

6.

Support body of car and right side of engine cradle.

7.

Remove right side cradle body bolts.

8.

Lower right side of cradle.

Crankshaft Pulley And Damper

9.

Remove crankshaft pulley bolts (4).  Remove crankshaft pulley from damper.

10.

Remove plug from end of crankshaft.

Installing Damper Pilot

11.

Install puller pilot, J-21052-4, in crankshaft bore.
