Standby Power Supply: Service and Repair
Do not open the DERM case for any reason. Touching the connector pins or soldered components may cause electrostatic discharge damage.
Repair of a faulty DERM is by replacement only.

1.
Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.
2.
Remove right sound insulator.
3.
Remove glove box assembly.
4.
Loosen retaining nuts and slide DERM from bracket.
5.
Unlatch orange connector lock then disconnect DERM electrical connector and remove DERM, Fig. 320.
6.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque DERM retaining nuts to 35 inch lbs.
b. Following installation, activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
c. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not
respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
