Install shoe retainer on end of piston, ensuring piston and retainer are positioned as shown in Fig. 5.
Caliper Installation
1.
Lubricate sliding surfaces and mount insulators, if equipped, on caliper bracket.
2.
Position caliper on mounting bracket ensuring insulators and retaining bolt boots remain in position.
3.
Coat mounting bolts with thin film of silicone grease, install bolts and tighten bolts to specifications.
4.
Install brake hose using new sealing washers.
5.
Install parking brake lever as follows:
a. Lubricate lever seal and anti-friction washer.
b. Install washer, seal and parking brake lever. Seal should be against caliper housing. Parking brake lever should be pointing downward.
c. Move lever off stop, hold lever and torque retaining nut to 35 ft. lbs., then rotate lever against stop.

Install spring and damper, connect parking brake cable, then secure assembly with retaining clip, if used.
7.
Tighten brake cable at equalizer until parking brake lever moves off stop, then loosen cable until lever just contacts stop.
8.
Install wheels and lower vehicle, fill master cylinder, and bleed brakes as needed. Do not attempt to move vehicle until brake pedal has been
moved several times a firm brake pedal is obtained.
