Tie Rod: Service and Repair

Rack and Pinion Tie Rod End Replacement - Outer

Tools Required

J 24319-B Steering Linkage and Tie Rod Puller

Removal Procedure 

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel.  

3. Loosen the outer tie rod jam nut (1).

4. Remove the outer tie rod retaining nut.

5. Using J 24319-B disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle.

6. Important:  Note the number of turns during removal for installation.

Remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod.
