Recall - Loose Front Shock Absorber Nuts (Aug 1987)
Whenever a vehicle subject to this campaign is taken into new or used vehicle inventory, or it is in your dealership for service in the future, you should
take the steps necessary to be sure the campaign correction has been made before reselling or releasing the vehicle.
Owners of vehicles recently sold from your new vehicle inventory are to be contacted by the dealer, and arrangements made to make the required
correction according to instructions contained in this bulletin.

Parts required to complete this modification are to be obtained from General Motors Service Parts Operations (GMSPO). To ensure that these parts are
obtained as soon as possible, they should be ordered from GMSPO on a C.I.O. with no special instruction code, but on an advise code (2).

Service, Label, Claim and Letter Information
1.
Raise and support vehicle.
2.
Remove tire and wheel assemblies.

Remove bolts, nuts and washers securing the shock absorber to its brackets, Figure No. 1.
4.
Fit new bolts in the direction shown in Figure No. 1.
5.
Torque nut on upper bolt to 94 N-m (70 lb.ft) and torque the nut on the lower bolt to 75 N-m (55 lb.ft).
6.
Repeat operation on opposite side of vehicle.
7.
Reinstall tire and wheel assemblies. Torque on a 6 or 8 stud single wheel is 123 N-m (90 lb.ft).
8.
Lower vehicle.
9.
Raise hood and install Campaign Identification Label.
