LEAK REPAIR AND MODULAR WINDSHIELD REMOVAL (GLASS UNDAMAGED)
MODELS:

The following describes a modular windshield leak repair procedure for the 1988 C/K Model. In certain situations, it may be necessary to remove an
undamaged windshield from this model. If this becomes necessary, follow the procedure described after windshield leak repair.
WINDSHIELD LEAK REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Determine source of water entry.
2.
If water is leaking into the vehicle at the top edge of the windshield, reseal using "Windo-Weld Resealant" 3M part number 08633 and applicator
gun 3M part number 08992 or equivalents. Use a "Duck Bill" applicator tip to inject the sealant under the molded glass seal.
3.
If water is leaking into the vehicle at the sides of the glass use "Super Fast" urethane auto glass sealant 3M past number 08609 or equivalent.
Use applicable labor time and operation number.
MODULAR WINDSHIELD SERVICE PROCEDURE (SAFETY GLASSES AND GLOVES MUST BE WORN) REMOVAL
1.
Remove radio antenna mast.
2.
Remove windshield wiper arms.
3.
Remove cowl grille.
4.
Remove windshield stop screws (2).
5.
Remove radio speaker grilles.
6.
Remove windshield (A) pillar trim from both sides of truck and pull door seal weatherstrip back from windshield area.
7.
Remove rear view mirror.
8.
Cut a 6 foot length of .020 inch piano wire. Insert one end of the wire through the urethane adhesive to the interior of the vehicle.
9.
Attach suitable handles to each end of the wire. (Kent-Moore kit P/N J-36863 includes all materials necessary to perform steps 8 and 9.)
10.
Spray a liquid soap solution around the entire perimeter of the windshield so the urethane is wet.
11.
With one person at each end of the wire, work the wire back and forth exerting pressure against the urethane. Continue this action until all of the
urethane has been cut and the windshield is loose.
NOTICE:
When working the wire back and forth, the following precautions should be taken:

To protect the IP from being damaged during the cutting action of the wire, a cloth or piece of cardboard should be placed between the wire and IP
pad.
^
When working the wire back and forth, do not allow the wire to make contact with the glass.
^
The soap solution should be sprayed periodically ahead of the wire until urethane has been completely cut.
12.
Carefully remove glass and set aside.
INSTALLATION
1.
Clean all old urethane from the windshield using a razor knife.
