G 1500 1/2 Ton Van V6-4.3L VIN W (1997)
1. Lubricate the rear brake backing plate and the adjusting, screw threads with a thin coat of white lithium grease.
2. The rear brake shoes.
3. The rear brake shoe adjuster.
4. The rear brake shoe adjuster spring.
NOTE:

The coils of the adjusting screw spring must not touch the adjusting screw.

Do not interchange the right and left brake shoe adjusting screws.
5. The rear parking brake lever strut and spring.
6. The rear brake shoe actuator link.
7. The rear brake shoe actuator and spring.
8. The shoe guide.
9. The hold-down pins.
10. The hold-down springs.
11. The rear brake shoe retaining springs.
12. The rear brake drum to the vehicle.
13. Remove the pin to the park brake lever.
14. The tire and wheel.
15. Adjust the rear brakes.
a. Remove the adjusting hole plug in the rear brake backing plate.
b. Turn the rear brake shoe adjuster counterclockwise until the wheel can just be turned by hand.
NOTE: The rear brake drag should be equal at both wheels.
c. Back off the rear brake shoe adjuster 33 notches.
NOTE: Brakes should have no drag after the adjuster has been backed off about 15 notches.
d. Install the adjusting hole plug in the rear brake backing plate.
16. Adjust the parking brake.
17. Lower the vehicle.
