Front End Discriminating Sensor

Removal Procedure
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dash Board / Instrument Panel/Air
Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair/Air Bag Disarming and Arming/Disabling the SIR System
2. Remove the LH front engine splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine.
3. Remove the electrical connector (1).
4. Remove the fasteners (3).
5. Remove the front end discriminating sensor (2).
Installation Procedure
1. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System. See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dash Board / Instrument Panel/Air
Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair/Air Bag Disarming and Arming/Enabling the SIR System
2. Install the front end discriminating sensor (2).
3. Install the fasteners (3).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices. See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service Precautions
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 20 N.m (14 ft lb).
4. Install the electrical connector (1).
5. Install the LH front engine splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine.
