Fluid Line/Hose: Service and Repair
3 Speed-MB3 Automatic Transmission

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting Points.
2. Remove 6 bolts and left splash shield (1) from the vehicle.
3. Place a drain pan or suitable container under the transaxle fluid cooler.
4. Remove one clamp and the fluid cooler inlet hose from the transaxle fluid cooler.
5. Remove one clamp and the fluid cooler outlet hose from the transaxle fluid cooler.
6. Remove one clamp and the fluid cooler inlet hose from the fluid cooler inlet pipe.
7. Remove one clamp and the fluid cooler outlet hose from the fluid cooler outlet pipe.
8. Loosen the flare nuts from the inlet fluid cooler pipe and from the outlet fluid cooler pipe.
9. Remove one bolt, the fluid cooler pipe bracket and the fluid cooler inlet and outlet pipes from the transaxle.

10. Inspect the transaxle fluid cooler hoses for leaks or fatigue. Replace as necessary.
11. Inspect the fluid cooler pipes for kinks, leaks or other damage. Replace as necessary.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install or connect the fluid cooler inlet pipe, outlet pipe and bracket to the transaxle. Secure the transaxle with one bolt. Do NOT tighten fully.

Tighten the inlet and outlet fluid cooler pipe flare nuts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).

Tighten the fluid cooler pipe bracket bolt to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.).

NOTICE:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the fluid cooler outlet hose to the fluid cooler outlet pipe. Secure the pipe with one clamp.
3. Install the fluid cooler inlet hose to the fluid cooler inlet pipe. Secure with one clamp.
4. Install the fluid cooler outlet hose to the transaxle fluid cooler. Secure with one clamp.
5. Install the fluid cooler inlet hose to the transaxle fluid cooler. Secure with one clamp.
6. Remove the drain pan from under the transaxle fluid cooler.
7. Install left splash shield (1) to the vehicle. Secure with 6 bolts.
