Transmission Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
4 Speed-MS7 Automatic Transmission
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect in Service Precautions.
2. Disconnect the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) electrical connector (1).
3. Remove one retaining bolt and VSS from the transaxle.
4. Inspect the VSS O-ring for cuts or damage. Replace as necessary.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Tools Required

J 36850 Transjel Transmission Assembly Lubricant.
1. Apply J 36850 to the VSS O-ring.
2. Install the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) into the transaxle case. Secure the VSS (2) with the retaining bolt (1).

Tighten the VSS Speed Sensor (VSS) bolt to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Connect the VSS electrical connector.
4. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
