Timing Cover: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Drain cooling system.

3.

Remove upper fan shroud, accessory drive belts, fan and pulley.

4.

Remove radiator and heater hoses.

5.

Remove water pump as described under ``Water Pump, Replace.''

6.

Remove crankshaft pulley retaining bolts, then the pulley.

7.

Remove crankshaft hub using tool J-24420, or equivalent.

8.

Remove front cover attaching bolts, then the front cover, Fig. 4.

9.

Reverse procedure to install. Apply a continuous bead of sealant 1052357, or equivalent to front cover sealing surface and 1052366, or equivalent
to oil pan surface of front cover.
