About the Suburban 1/2 Ton
The half-ton Suburban. The Suburban, built since 1934, is the longest-running car nameplate in the world and the forerunner of the modern full-size SUV, combining a wagon body with pickup-truck mechanicals. GMC has sold it too, as the Yukon XL since 2000.
What these manuals cover
- 1985–1987: (seventh generation) the 5.0, 5.7 and 7.4-litre V8s and the 6.2 diesel
- 2004–2006: (ninth generation) the 5.3-litre V8, including flex-fuel
Tip: the GMC Suburban manuals cover the same vehicles. Later half-ton Suburbans from the 1990s are listed as C 1500 and K 1500 Suburban.
