Gearshift Lever Case Installation

Installation Procedure 

For gear shift lever case components. Refer to Gearshift Controls.
1. Apply the GM P/N 12346240, or equivalent, to the extension case gearshift lever case mating surface.

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice Service Precautions.

2. Install the gearshift lever case (1) to extension case (2) with 10 bolts.

Tighten the gearshift lever case bolts to 17 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).

3. Install the breather hose to the gearshift lever case by securing with 1 clamp.
4. Install the rear transmission crossmember onto the vehicle by securing with 4 bolts.

^

Tighten the rear transmission crossmember bolts to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).

5. Install the 2 bolts (2) to the rear transmission mount (1).

Tighten the rear transmission mount bolts to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).

6. Remove the hydraulic jack from underneath the transmission.
7. Install the Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) and the muffler/tail pipe assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Front Pipe Replacement in Engine

Exhaust.

8. Remove the speedometer driven gear case retaining bolt.
