4.5. Compare the compression and the rebound with a similar vehicle that has an acceptable ride quality. Both of the strut dampeners/shocks
should provide the same feeling of resistance.
Use the following steps in order to inspect the shock absorbers:
1. Support the rear suspension in order to unload the shock mounts.
2. Disconnect the lower shock mountings on one axle set.
3. Stroke the shocks at various rates of speed, through maximum travel in both directions.
4. Compare the two sides for rebound and compression resistance.

Rebound resistance is normally twice as Strong as compression.

The right and left shocks must feel comparable.

Differences between front and rear shocks are normal.

If you are in doubt about the condition of the shock, compare the shock with a shock that is known to be good.
