REMOVAL PROCEDURE

J 1859-A Steering Wheel Remover
CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disable the SIR System.
2. If you are NOT removing the steering column, ensure the front wheels and tires are in the straight ahead position.
3. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module.
4. Remove the steering shaft nut (2).
5. Use paint in order to place alignment marks (2) on the steering wheel and on the steering shaft. Use these marks as a guide during installation.
NOTICE: Do not use any steering wheel puller or side screws other than those recommended as the SIR coil assembly is easily damaged if the
correct tools are not used.
