5. Remove the stop lamp switch (1) by rotating the switch counterclockwise approximately 30 degrees, then pulling it rearward out of the bracket.
Disconnect the wiring harness connector and discard the switch. Do not reuse the stop lamp switch.
6. Remove the retaining clip (4) securing the power brake booster push rod to the brake pedal. To do so, position a small screwdriver (1) under the
center tang of the retaining clip, then rotate the screwdriver enough to allow the retaining clip tang to pass over the end of the brake pedal pin (3).
Remove and discard the clip. Do not reuse the clip.
7. Slide the booster push rod (2) off the brake pedal pin (3).
8. Remove the four nuts (2, 3) securing the power brake booster to the brake pedal bracket.
9. Remove the two remaining upper nuts securing the brake pedal bracket to the instrument panel support.
10. Carefully remove the brake pedal and bracket assembly from the vehicle.
11. Remove the pedal pivot shaft nut.
12. Remove the pedal pivot shaft out the right side of the bracket.
13. Slide the pedal out of its bracket.
14. If necessary, remove the bushings from the pedal by sliding them out each side of the pivot.
