This bulletin supersedes Technical Service Bulletin 02-03-87, which should be removed from your files. The sentence explaining initial fill has been
revised.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Due to the change in position of the fill plug on front driving axles used in subject model vehicles, it will be necessary to use the following lubricant
checking procedure.
Initial Fill (dry axle or axle that has had the disconnect cover removed).
Fill to bottom of filler plug hole opening.
In-Service Check
Lubricant level should be maintained at 1/2" to 5/8" below bottom of filler plug hole opening.
NOTE:
OVERFILL CAN RESULT IN LUBRICANT "FOAMING" AND/OR UNIT OVERHEATING.
