Open the hood by inserting a long thin flat blade screwdriver through the opening in the grille into the hood latch as shown in Figure 1. Pry the release
pawl to the right (driver side). Inspect the hood latch where the cable ball stud attaches to the release pawl (Figure 2). If the ball stud is not attached to
the release pawl, perform the following Repair Procedure.

Strap, Tie

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves securing the hood release cable to the release pawl lever with a tie strap.

1.

Using a grease pencil, mark the hood latch position for installation alignment.

2.

Remove the two bolts that attach the hood latch to the radiator closure panel crossmember and remove the hood latch from the crossmember.

3.

Install the cable ball stud into the hood latch release pawl.

4.

Thread a tie strap (p/n 04641780) through the hole into the release pawl where the pawl spring is attached in the direction going away from the
spring. Then, pull the tie strap through until the end of the tie strap rests against the pawl. Loop the tie strap around the hood release cable and
thread the tie strap back through its end (Figure 3).
