Squeak Coming From Armrest Tether Inside The Floor Console

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO DODGE DURANGO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH BUCKET SEATS AND CENTER CONSOLES BUILT
BEFORE OCTOBER 13, 1997 (MDH 1013XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Center console armrest squeaks while opening or closing. The squeak only occurs when the armrest is operated up and down with high interior
temperatures or when the console is in direct sunlight.
DIAGNOSIS:
Allow the vehicle to sit in direct sunlight or start the engine and position the heater/A/C temperature controls to maximum heat. Allow the interior
temperature of the vehicle to increase so that the temperature inside the vehicle can exceed 100°F. Cycle the center console's armrest up and down while
listening for a squeak. If a squeak is noticed, perform the following Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves removing the bin from the center console and lubricating the foam surface that comes in contact with a nylon tether located inside
the center console.
1.
Open the center console's armrest.
2.
Remove the four screws that secure the bin to the floor console and remove the bin.
3.
Liberally apply Mopar Weatherstrip Lubricant, (p/n 04773427), directly onto the foam surface located on the right side of the console.
CAUTION:
DO NOT USE MOPAR SILICONE LUBRICANT, P/N 04318070, OR ANY OTHER PETROLEUM-BASED SILICONE LUBRICANTS FOR
THIS REPAIR. DETERIORATION OF THE FOAM, VINYL COVERINGS, AND FABRICS WILL OCCUR IF THE SILICONE LUBRICANT
USED CONTAINS ANY PETROLEUM OILS.
4.
Install the bin and secure it with the four screws.
5.
Close the center console's armrest.
