Inspect the steering wheel armature hub area for cracks as shown in Figure 1.

If no cracks are found, an anti-separation plate must be installed. Continue with Section B - Anti-Separation Plate Installation.

If many cracks are found around the armature hub area, replace the steering wheel with the steering wheel listed in the Parts Information
section.
Continue with Section C - Steering Wheel Replacement.
NOTE:
The anti-separation plate is not required if the steering wheel is replaced.
B. Anti-Separation Plate Installation
1.
Install the anti-separation plate as shown in Figure 2.
2.
Install the provided steering wheel retaining nut. Tighten the nut to 45 ft-lbs (61 Nm).
3.
Connect the clockspring squib connector to the airbag by pressing straight in on the connector. Push the connector past the secondary latch fingers
until it is fully seated into the module squib.
4.
Install the airbag onto the steering wheel.
5.
Install the airbag retaining nuts and tighten to 90 in-lbs (10 Nm).
