Exhaust Resonator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Raise vehicle on hoist and remove side sill panel (rocker panel cover).
2. Apply penetrating oil to band clamps of component being removed.
3. Remove rear muffler.
4. Disconnect and remove downstream oxygen sensor.
5. Remove side sill resonator/intermediate pipe isolator.
6. Remove side sill resonator/intermediate pipe.
INSTALLATION
1. Insert side sill resonator/intermediate pipe into catalytic converter, and install rear muffler. Do not tighten band clamps at this time.
2. Install side sill resonator/intermediate pipe isolator and muffler isolators torque bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.).
3. Tighten both band clamps to 70 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).
4. Install downstream oxygen sensor and tighten to 27 Nm (240 inch lbs.). Connect wiring to oxygen sensor.
5. Install rear muffler and side sill panel (rocker panel cover).
