Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
OPERATION

The evaporative emission purge solenoid is an ON-OFF type of solenoid which controls introduction of purge air from the evaporative emission
canister into the intake air plenum.

The battery power is supplied to the evaporative emission purge solenoid through the multiport fuel injection relay. When the engine control
module turns ON the power transistor in the module, current flows to the coil, introducing purge air.
