FRONT WHEEL GEOMETRY

The wheel geometry must be checked after subjected the components involved to the following checks:

  • - tyre inflation pressure;
  • - the eccentricity and squareness of the wheel rims (must not be more than 3 mm);
  • - wheel bearing and float;
  • - clearance between steering knuckle and suspension arm ball joint;
  • - Steering rod ball joint clearance.

Side view diagram of a wheel and suspension strut showing camber angle α.

camber α = { 1 ± 30′
(cannot be adjusted) 2°20′ ± 30 (*)

Top-down diagram of a wheel and suspension strut showing caster angle ε.

caster e = { 2°30′ ± 30′
3°30′ ± 30′ (*)

Diagram of the front steering assembly showing the steering rod, steering rod lock nut, and steering wheel. An inset photo shows a close-up of the lock nut being tightened.

The front toe in is adjusted by undoing the rod lock nut and tightening or loosening the steering rod until the correct toe in is achieved without altering the position of the steering wheel spokes.

REAR WHEEL GEOMETRY

The rear wheel geometry cannot be checked because the rear suspension is composed of a rigid tubular axle.
