Aerial

The aerial is responsible for:

  • supplying the transponder with energy for sending the code;
  • receiving the code from the transponder and sending it to the Fiat Code ECU.

Because the aerial needs to be near to the transponder (due to electromagnetic immunity, its small size and the transponder's limited range of action), it is fitted coaxially to the ignition.

Code Card

The Code Card is supplied in two copies and contains:

  • electronic Code, 5-figure code for the emergency start-up procedure by means of a Fiat/Lancia Tester or by means of the accelerator pedal on models where this is possible;
  • mechanical Code, for copying the mechanical part of the key.

Two spaces on the back of the card are used for applying self-adhesive stickers of any remote controls with the sending unit code (password).

Fiat Code system warning light

The Code warning light is managed by the Fiat Code ECU According to the model, the Code warning light consists of a amber warning light on the instrument panel; when the ignition key is turned ON (+15), the warning light can indicate one of the following conditions:

  • briefly ON (0.7s) and then OFF: key recognised, system operating correctly.
  • FLASHING: neither the engine mangement unit and the FIAT CODE ECU contain stored codes (blank system); for a description of the various flashing modes, refer to the "Manual diagnosis" paragraph.
  • ON: permanent activation of the warning light with the key turned ON (+15) indicates one of the following faults:

a. key not recognised by the Fiat Code ECU (engine management prohibited);
b. serial line not connected or engine management unit and FIAT Code ECU not in communication
c. key store procedure not carried out correctly
