SYSTEM MASTER FUSE
INTRODUCTION
Voltage is distributed through the car electrical circuit by means of wiring of sufficient cross-section to withstand the current uptake by the various services plus appropriate safety factors.
All circuits on the car are normally protected by appropriate fuses of sufficient size for the forseeable loads. This are mainly located in the junction unit or other specific housings.
To achieve full system protection, a further high-power fuse has been added to protect all wires that used to be supplied directly from the battery for technical reasons.
This high amperage fuse (80A) protects the main supply leads from critical short circuits (with high current values).
Wires not protected by the master fuse (wire between fuse and battery, wire between battery and starter motor) are now shielded for mechanical and thermal protection against short-circuits. The route of all the main wires has also been rationalised reduce the risk of damage in case of accident. Set fastenings and specific connections have been added (e.g. on the starter motor) so that connections must be made with the correct positioning.
