Cross-Member: Customer Interest
Crossmember - Powertrain Moan/Drone Noise

Article No. 84-23-12

NOISE - MOAN/DRONE - POWERTRAIN

LIGHT TRUCKS 1983-85 BRONCO, F100-350

The transmission on mounting crossmember (#3) is "tuned" to isolate powertrain NVH. In some cases the crossmember-to-frame gussets create a "bind"
and negate the crossmember tuning.

FIGURE 13

This condition can be alleviated by loosening the #3 crossmember/rear engine support gussets at the attachment to the crossmember and, if the gussets
pull away from the crossmember, adding shims to the gap. Retighten mounting bolts (install larger bolts if required). Refer to Figure 13.
