Automatic Transmission/Transaxle External Controls - Vehicles With: 4-Speed Automatic Transmission (4F27E) - Selector Lever Cable C-MAX 2003.75 (06/2003-)
Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the center console.
    For additional information, refer to: Mittelkonsole (501-12 Sicherheitsabdeckung - Instrumententafel und Konsolen, Removal and Installation).

  1. Remove the left-hand bracket for the center console reinforcing element.

  1. Remove the right-hand bracket for the center console reinforcing element.
    • Detach the wiring harness bracket from the bracket for the center console reinforcing element.

4. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Adjust the selector lever cable.

Removal Details

Item 1 : Transmission-side selector lever cable

  1. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to: (100-02)
    Anheben mit Wagenheber (Description and Operation),
    Anheben mit Hebebühne (Description and Operation).
  1. Remove the engine undershield (if fitted).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not kink the selector lever cable.
    Detach the selector lever cable from the transmission.
    1. Detach the selector lever cable from the selector mechanism.
    1. Lift the locking tab, press the locking pins together and detach the selector lever cable from the abutment.

Item 2 : Selector lever-side selector lever cable

  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not kink the selector lever cable.
    Detach the selector lever cable from the selector lever.
    1. Detach the selector lever cable from the selector lever.
    1. Lift the locking tab, press the locking pins together and detach the selector lever cable from the abutment.

Item 3 : Selector lever cable nuts

  1. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to: (100-02)
    Anheben mit Wagenheber (Description and Operation),
    Anheben mit Hebebühne (Description and Operation).

  1. Remove the front heat shield.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not kink the selector lever cable.
    Detach the selector lever cable from the clip.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not kink the selector lever cable.
    Remove the selector lever cable from the bracket.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not kink the selector lever cable.
    Remove the selector lever cable.
    • Discard the selector lever cable nuts.
