18. Remove the bolts and partially lower the oil pan.
19. NOTE: Oil pan is removed for clarity.
Remove the bolts retaining the oil pump screen cover and tube and let the bolts drop into the oil pan.
20. Remove the oil pan at the rear of the engine.
21. Clean the mating surfaces and clean the oil pan thoroughly.
22. Inspect the oil pan gasket.
Installation
CAUTION: Make sure the 0-ring is in place and not damaged. A missing or damaged O-ring can cause foam in the lubrication system, low oil
pressure and severe engine damage.
NOTE: Clean and inspect the mating surfaces and install a new 0-ring. Lubricate the 0-ring with clean engine oil.
1. Install the oil pump screen and pickup tube.
2. NOTE: If not secure within four minutes, the sealant must be removed and the scaling area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until
there is no sign of wetness, or four minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.
Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant where the front cover and the rear crankshaft seal retainer fit to the engine block.
